Advisory services in Therapeutics or Toxicology

TTC provides advice on the clinical and cost-effectiveness of medicines to NHS bodies in Wales via the Welsh Medicines Partnership (Weblink). Medical staff in the Centre provide general medical services and specialist clinical services (including hypertension, adverse drug reactions and occupational toxicology) via Cardiff and Vale NHS Trust.

Clinical Toxicology advice is commissioned from TTC by the Health Protection Agency, and is provided by the National Poisons Information Service (Cardiff Centre) (Weblink). The Cardiff Centre is one of five such centres in the UK and one of the three also contributing out-of hours support for the UK National Poisons Information Service rota.

TTC also hosts the Yellow Card Centre Wales (Weblink), one of five regional monitoring Centres in the UK funded by the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) to follow up reports of suspected adverse reactions to medicines and to provide education, communication and promotion of adverse drug reaction (ADR) reporting amongst local health professionals, patients and carers in their area.
